ATR Tech / BRAZILIAN FOREIGN TRADE
BRAZILIAN FOREIGN TRADE

Brazil COMEX: turn trade flows into intelligence.

Exports and imports become more useful when volume, value, destination, origin, concentration and share changes are analyzed together.

What the source offers — and what ATR Tech delivers today

Comex Stat is Brazil's official foreign-trade statistics system and its database supports several cuts. ATR Tech's validated dashboards currently work with preconfigured products and NCM codes, export or import flows, destination or origin countries and comparable periods. Free-form queries by Brazilian state, municipality and customs unit are not currently available in the platform.

Essential metrics

  • net weight and statistical quantity;
  • declared FOB value;
  • origins and destinations;
  • market participation and concentration;
  • change against equivalent periods;
  • position changes among trading partners.

How to compare correctly

Monthly comparisons need to account for seasonality and data revisions. Year-to-date comparisons should use the same number of months. Products should be defined by NCM or a documented grouping, avoiding the combination of similar goods with different market dynamics.

From summary to evidence

A good interface starts with the relevant change and lets the user open its composition by destination, origin and period. The user should be able to reach the official data and understand how each calculation was produced.

Important limit: customs statistics describe recorded flows; by themselves they do not reveal margin, contract, freight or commercial intent.

Frequently asked questions

What does FOB value mean?

It is the declared value of the goods under FOB conditions and does not automatically equal net revenue or the final price of a commercial transaction.

Can exports be analyzed by product?

Yes. Comex Stat allows cuts by NCM classification and by several geographic and time dimensions.

How can distorted comparisons be avoided?

Use equivalent periods, keep unit and classification constant, and separate volume, value and implicit average value.
